Carlos The Jackal is a former militant of the National Liberation Movement (MNR). In October 1969, he was expelled from the MNR. The following year, he left Spain in Spain and moved to London. There he was granted asylum and allowed to settle in Britain. In 1971, the Jackal was hired as a consultant for the CIA, with a secret $1,000,000 salary. This began a new career in intelligence that would last until his death in 1989.

The story of Carlos and his life began around 1970 when his father died and a long struggle began to support the family. He struggled with money issues from the time he was in the service of the Nationalist Government in Spain. In 1967, his best friend was killed in a Nationalist attack on his village. The following year, he fled Spain with his family to Italy.

In Italy, he moved to Rome and lived there for over a year. During that period, he did some illegal work, but he was very aware that there were many people who were not happy with his activity. During this time, he had a girlfriend, but she became pregnant and left him, taking their daughter with them. The baby, a girl, was named Lucia and this little girl became the center of his life.
