Geez, Even Fargo Has Gone Upscale!
So the other day, I was watching a movie and the main character gets up to go pee and the plot calls for him to use the bathroom and to pee down the hall, down the stairs, to get to a door with a lock. I was about to open my mouth to say I was a little surprised he was in a bar in the first place when I remembered I had seen this movie and that my favorite character was in a bar when he needed to pee. Then my mouth got to opening but I could not.
I do not know whether I’m more surprised at the movie or the bar owner, but I am pretty damn sure it is a bar owner I am more surprised at. In fact I am so sure I am surprised, it is going to be a long time before I am not.
One of my favorite TV shows, Friday Night Lights was once about what happened to a small school in the U.S. when they had a kid who went away to college and they tried to find him when he showed up one day and never returned from his trip home. It turns out there were a lot of people that wanted the kid dead and the family didn’t talk about his trip all the time and the school was under new ownership and a new principal. When I think about this show I think about the small Texas town in which there are two bars.
I remember watching this show for the first time while I was in college and having a beer in one booth talking with my friends and the other booth was full of students watching the football games on a big monitor. I remember sitting there thinking that I was watching the school in Friday Night Lights and I thought if I ever moved to a small town anywhere, I would like it a lot.
Friday Night Lights was a really cool show. It was an excellent show. If I watch it again, I will probably have to watch it as I feel the newness of the new principal would probably be a problem.
